EDUCATION
Phillip Mulherin had an interest in social justice for many years prior to ever commencing his legal studies. He completed an Associate Diploma in Social Welfare in 1982 and commenced employment setting up social welfare services in the Tweed area in 1983. He then completed a Bachelor of Arts, Social Science in 1986 and joined the NSW Department of Community Services in 1987 working in the areas of juvenile justice and child protection.
Phillip’s interest in law sprung from his interest in social justice. It seemed a natural progression to experience with clients their pursuit of just outcomes. As such Phillip commenced studying law at Macquarie University in 1990 and was admitted to the NSW Supreme Court as a lawyer in 1996. Since then he has practised principally in the Tweed area in criminal litigation, mental health law and child protection. He has done
- Bachelor of Legal Studies from Macquarie University
- Graduate Certificate Legal Practice from UTS Sydney
- Bachelor Arts and Social Science from WA Institute of Technology,
- Associate Diploma Social Welfare from Newcastle College of Advanced Education
FAMILY
In recent times, Phillip’s son, Jack has joined him in the law practice and it is an appropriate time for Phillip Mulherin, Solicitor to evolve into Mulherin Lawyers. The work Phillip Mulherin Solicitor has done for the past 25 years will continue but with Jack on board the firm is now resourced to take on work in Queensland.
LEADERSHIP
Phillip Mulherin has never seen being a lawyer as a ticket or right to charge people exorbitant fees, “It is a privilege to be able to assist people in what is often a very difficult period in their lives.” That is why Phillip is held in such high regard by clients and other players in the legal industry. He doesn’t attempt to exploit his clients or take the trust clients place in him for granted.
